How To Save Money Without Trying Using Digit
Are you struggling with building up your savings account? Do you sometimes dabble into your savings to purchase certain things or when money is low? Listen, I know how you can save money without even trying.
I have been big on creating budgets since COVID-19 hit and interrupted the flow of the world. I really wanted to ensure that we had several savings accounts; an account for emergencies that covered all the house expenses, an account for rainy days if our cars need work, etc.
In addition, I wanted to ensure I was treating myself, so I started budgeting my expenses for my self-care needs. Now, I was spending this money already, but I was spending it all in one bulk and would be SICK about it later. Then I downloaded DIGIT.
If you’re wondering, “What the heck is Digit?”, Digit is an app that helps you save money without thinking about it. It is great for people who aren’t natural savers. It gives them an opportunity to save without having to think about it. Digit is the perfect app for someone who is trying to get started on reaching their financial goals.
In August, I created a savings goal in Digit for $250 to get my hair braided. In less than a month, I had all the money to get my hair done. Even though I didn’t get my hair braided, I let the money sit in Digit and then used $95 of my savings to get a blowout. Because of this savings goal, I didn’t have to see the money leave my account in one big amount. I allowed Digit to work its magic and withdrew the money when needed.
As of today, I have 4 saving goals. A rainy day fund, a hair fund, a self-care fund, and a Christmas fund. I created these savings goals to help me have money for what’s important to me without breaking the bank all at once.
Trust me, using Digit is super easy! All you have to do is have a savings goal, set how much you want to save, and add the “deadline” date to have it saved. Here’s a snippet below of how my savings goals look.
If you are wondering, “Where does the money come from?”, the answer is simple: YOUR BANK ACCOUNT! Digit uses an algorithm to monitor your spending; every day, it’ll take some money out. Some days it could be $2, some days, it could be $20. It all depends on your spending behavior.
Here’s a snippet of my savings journal through Digit.
Now listen, the more savings goals you have, the more money Digit will save for you, so be mindful of this. You can always pause a few of your savings goals so all of your saved money can go to the goal that’s top priority for you. For example, digit got carried away one day and took over $50 daily, so I paused everything except for Christmas gift savings.
I love the Digit app because checking your account and seeing how much money you’ve saved without even trying is satisfying.
Let’s keep it real: saving money is important. It shouldn’t take hard times for us to see the importance of having a nice stash or simply creating and maintaining budgets. I want y’all to know that we ain’t going into a new year without trying to improve.

You must connect your checking account so Digit can work its magic. After you connect Digit to your checking account, create a savings goal and watch your money pile up.
Please note: after the first month of using Digit, the app will deduct $5 monthly.
