Why I Started a Blog?

It may seem like the world is starting to blog and become influencers and/or content creators! At the end of the day, everyone has a unique story that someone can resonate with. If you want to share that, why not start the blog? Why not positively influence people? Why not create content that makes you happy and tells your story? Seriously, why not?

Starting around the end of April 2020, I kept feeling like there was something I needed to do. Like God was trying to give me the vision, but I could not see it. I would randomly record myself talking, cooking, and doing my hair. So I thought, okay, Ebony, let’s share your experiences through IGTV videos. My husband was all for it, so I popped it off with a WE’RE MARRIED video! I was super excited to share that we decided to get married in our living room, even though the panorama caused us to postpone our big day. I wanted people to know it was okay to do it if the timing was right. Then, I went into sharing hair and plant videos, in addition to sharing a little more on IG.

While I felt fulfilled, it still felt like that wasn’t it. Yeah, the videos are cool, but how can you still share even if you don’t want to be in front of a camera weekly? So I started a blog! A blog was the perfect way for me to have balance. On June 27, I told my husband I wanted to start a blog, and by June 29, I was live with a domain and three whole posts. Now, I will say don’t be like me and throw it out there. Have a launch day and collect email addresses, even if it’s just a week in advance.

Having a website allows me to connect with you even when I may not feel cute enough to be on camera. It is also something that belongs to me. If Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, or any other social media platform ended today, I will still have your blog/website.

Being a blogger allows me to share my experiences, express my thoughts and feelings, and connect with other amazing people who can relate.

If you want to start a blog, ask yourself these questions.

  • Why do you want to start? What will be your blog’s purpose?

  • Do you enjoy writing?

  • Will blogging be a hobby, or is it something you want to monetize?

  • Are you willing to spend some coins to get your blog running?

  • Are you willing to sacrifice your free time to create content?

  • Are you willing to put it out there, even imperfect?

Check out the following blog post once you’ve answered these questions and are ready to start. These are super helpful to get anyone started.

If you have any questions about blogging, I am happy to help or lead you toward someone who can.

Until Next Time!
