Easy and Effortless Two Strand Twist Out with Mielle Organics

The battle between choosing a wash-and-go or a twist-out is real for me. I asked my IG followers to choose for me this go-round. 52% chose twist out, which was a WIN in my book! I was happy the people decided to twist out because I was already super tired. When I am tired, a simple style like a “2-strand twist” is my go-to because it is quick, and I do not have to worry about going to bed with wet hair.

Some people think that twist-outs are a lot of work, but they take the same time for me and are sometimes less effort than a wash-n-go. The added benefit of a twist-out is that it also lasts longer.

I listed a few steps below that help me get BOMB twist-out results. I want you to remember that you should not overcomplicate the twist; the parts do not have to be perfect and detangle, DEtangle, DETANGLE. The more you detangle on the front end, the more manageable your hair will be for styling. So, follow the super simple steps below, and I have a video for you guys, as always. Be sure to check out the products from Mielle Organics as well.

How to get a BOMB Twist Out

  1. Cleanse your hair with a gentle shampoo or a co-wash.

  2. Always deep condition.

  3. Detangle as you go.

    • I like to use my fingers first, then go through with a detangling brush.

  4. Use products that make your hair happy.

    • I like to use Leave in, Styling Creme, and serum for my two-strand twists.

    • You can also seal in moisture with oils like olive oil or Jamaican black castor oil.

    • For thicker hair, add a gel for more definition and hold.

  5. Don’t focus on perfect parts if you are not wearing your twist in its style.

    • The less I focus on parting, the better my twist comes out.

  6. Let your hair dry completely.

    • I sit under the dryer for 10-15 minutes, then put my bonnet on and call it a day.

  7. Unravel your hair gently, taking down one twist at a time with an oil or serum on your fingertips.

Note: I usually pineapple my hair at night; however, you can always re-twist your hair nightly.
